Jacinta

I was born out of wedlock, and my mom’s husband did not want me around. My mom loved her husband more than me so I suffered many kinds of physical abuse at home. I found it was better and safer to sleep in the bush than endure what was happening to me with my family. My teacher, neighbors and village chief have all seen me be mistreated. I missed school and sometimes my neighbor would feed me because she saw that I was starving.

Eventually, my mom was arrested and I was brought to Mukaa Children’s Home. I am so thankful. I am in 6th grade (Class 6).
