Mutunga
Mutunga is the eldest of three siblings. When his mother abandoned the family in 2021, he took on the role of caregiver for his younger brother and sister while their father worked away from home doing casual labor. Despite being just a child himself, Mutunga learned to cook, clean, and care for his siblings — often sacrificing his own schooling and rest to keep them safe.
In September, Mutunga and his siblings were admitted to Mukaa for safety, education, and nurturing care. Now 11, he is enrolled in Grade 4 and is performing at an average academic level. He is physically healthy, though he continues to grow emotionally as he learns to let go of adult responsibilities and simply be a child again.
Mutunga is quiet, responsible, and protective of his younger brother. Though he struggles at times to form friendships beyond his siblings, the loving environment at Mukaa is helping him build trust, joy, and a renewed sense of security. He is learning to experience God’s love and peace in community. With continued guidance, counseling, and stability, Mutunga is beginning to flourish — both as a student and as a young boy rediscovering childhood.
