Abigail Amanda and her younger sister Jael have suffered extreme physical and emotional abuse from their mother for an extensive period of time. Their mother is an alcoholic and neglected the girls' care as well as threatened their lives. This led to Abigail dropping out of school and experiencing deep emotional trauma. After physically forcing the girls to leave the home, they were rescued by neighbors who informed authorities of the situation, As a result, the mother is now in jail and the girls are living in the safety of the Mukaa Children's Home. Their healing from these traumatic circumstances has begun with the holistic care the home provides and the loving security of this place of refuge and safety.

Abigail is adapting well to her new home and is learning to trust in the love of her Mukaa family.
