Mukaa Orphanage Christmas Gift Program 2011
Last year we started a Christmas Gift Program for the Mukaa Childrenʼs Home. Thanks to your generosity, it was hugely successful. We were able to buy gifts, clothes, sports equipment and Bibles for all of the children as well as providing for a special bonus for the staff.
As we thought and prayed about what to do this year, we decided that we wanted to focus on 3 items: gifts for the children, a special Christmas Family dinner for the children, and bonuses for the staff. Any monies that we receive above what we need to use for these 3 items will be applied toward helping to fund improved infrastructure and sustainable projects.
Gifts for the Children
Our suggested gift amount is $30/child and will include items such as: pens, pencils, rain boots, handkerchief, socks and stockings, shoes, T-shirts, note books, blankets, games, snack bars, chocolate, whistle, balls, tennis balls and nets. Armstrong Njeru will buy these items locally and then give them to the children.
Special gift for the staff
For those of you who have visited the orphanage, you know that these are the people who make this work and are responsible for the success of the orphanage. Salaries, for the staff are very modest and the recent food inflation has created a hardship for all of them. Last year we were able to give each of them a bonus of $50. We would like to be able to do the same this year.Additional Projects
Capital Projects / Sustainable: Projects These would include renovation of the boys dorm, adding staff housing, solar water heaters, play ground equipment, a tilapia / vegetable system, chickens and more…. These are all included in the recently completed Mukaa Children’s Home Strategic Plan, a copy of which can be found on our website.
We hope that you appreciate the spirit with which we are sharing this with you. Many of you are already doing a lot to help the Mukaa Orphanage and that regular support is greatly appreciated. We just thought you would appreciate this opportunity. This can be a special double bonus gift. It will greatly enhance the Christmas experience for the children of the Mukaa Orphanage as well as potentially providing you with an alternative Christmas gift for your friends and family.
Deadline – In order to provide Director Armstrong and his staff sufficient time to purchase these gifts, we ask that you make your donation by December 10, 2011.
You can make your gift by either sending a check to Sustained Acts, 640 Woodbrook Drive, Ambler, PA 19002, or use the PayPal button on our website. If you want to make this gift on behalf of someone else, please send us their name and address and we will send them a Christmas card designed specifically for this purpose, noting the gift that was given in their name. We will try to send these out at least a week before Christmas.
